From the next 19 April 2019, The Consortium Sacyr-Agunsa will take control of the Chacalluta Airport concession of Arica, which adds to the current concession from Tepual Airport in Puerto Montt. The project consists of the expansion and improvement of the current air terminal, going from 5,352 m2 to 11,592 m2, with which it is hoped that the campus to meet approximately 1,145,000 annual passengers.
The work considers the installation of five new boarding bridges, which will replace two existing bridges, in addition to increase from four to seven aircraft parking lots, along with the expansion of the vehicular roads to the outside and to the inside of the airport pedestrian, so as to facilitate the movement on the premises. In addition, build new aeronautical facilities as a control tower, an administrative building, a building logistical support, a building RFFS (Service of Rescue and Fire Fighting) and its platform, an electrical aviation substation, a restaurant, points of access control and the installation of terrestrial fuel, among other works. Within the benefits of the project are the strengthening of Freight transport and passengers, the integration of the region and its inhabitants with rest of the country and the generation of direct and indirect new jobs. With the remodeling and expansion of the Chacalluta airport is expected to strengthen the supply of flights to and from the Region of Arica and Parinacota, with high standards of service, by increasing the supply of airport infrastructure of our country.”
